The
SIRSIDYNIX WebCat© Online Catalog has many
new features:
- You can search all
libraries or just your local library.
- You can place holds on
books.
- You can view your
checkouts, holds, renew items, see fines
and more.
PIN (Personal Identification Number)
Anyone can search the catalog, but to place a hold,
renew items or view your library record, you will need your library card
number (the 10 or 14 digit number on the back of your library card) and a
PIN. To obtain a PIN, you will need to come to the library and bring
identification. This insures the confidentiality of our library patron
records. If you forget or lose your PIN, you will need to come to the
library with proper ID.
How to Place Holds
To place a hold, locate the item you want in the
on-line catalog and then click on the light blue button at the top of the
screen labeled REQUEST, then follow the link to PLACE IMMEDIATE HOLD. The call number and item ID
will already be listed. Type in your user ID and PIN, select where you
want to pickup the item and then click on the PLACE HOLD button. Certain categories of
books may not be placed on hold including reference books, "Top Ten
books," school collection books, and fiction video or DVD movies. If
you try to place a hold on any of these items, you will receive an error
message such as: "No items qualified for hold--please see librarian
for help." When you place a hold via WebCat©,
items may not be immediately available. You will be notified when the
items are available for pickup. If you need the items immediately, please
call your local library.
"Top-Ten +" Bestselling
Authors
The latest books (including books and large-print
books) by the authors listed below cannot be placed on hold and are not
visible in the catalog. The popular book versions circulate more by
having them available at the local library instead of waiting to be
delivered between branches or sitting on a hold shelf. Please be assured
that we will have the latest books by these authors available as soon as
they are received and processed. Please check with your local library for
availability.

Mary Higgins Clark, Patricia Cornwell, Sue Grafton, John Grisham, Stephen
King, Dean Koontz, James Patterson, J. K. Rowling, and Danielle Steel.
WebTV Users
WebTV uses "caching" to cut down the time
it takes to download additional pages from the internet. Our catalog
creates dynamic webpages so it cannot be
cached. In addition, the catalog has security features that do not work
with caching and proxy servers so that each catalog search remains
private. Because these two technologies do not work hand in hand, WebTV
users may not be able to access our catalog.
Links to the Catalog
Do NOT create a "bookmark,"
"favorite," or link to the catalog past this point. Because
catalog session links are dynamic and URLs are created on-the-fly, future
sessions will not connect properly using an old URL. Again, this is a
security feature to protect your privacy.
